Role overview

The Light Academy FL in Miramar, FL is hiring a full-time Custodian to help keep the campus clean, safe, and ready for daily use. This position supports classroom, office, restroom, hallway, and outdoor area upkeep, along with light maintenance and event setup duties.

Responsibilities

• Carry out regular cleaning work across the school, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disposing of waste from classrooms, restrooms, offices, corridors, and shared spaces.
• Keep restrooms clean, sanitized, and adequately supplied.
• Maintain the appearance of school property, including entry points and outdoor seating areas.
• Handle simple maintenance tasks when needed, such as replacing bulbs or clearing blocked sinks.
• Track cleaning and maintenance stock, replenish items as needed, and alert management when new supplies must be ordered.
• Prepare rooms and other areas for meetings, events, and activities, then restore them afterward.
• Deal promptly with spills, accidents, and other urgent cleaning situations.
• Make sure the building is secured at the close of the day, including locking doors and activating alarms where required.
• Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and in line with established procedures.
• Take on additional custodial or maintenance work assigned by administration.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in custodial or janitorial work is an advantage.
• Comfort working on your own as well as with others.
• Strong eye for detail and good organizational ability.
• Capability to lift and move heavy items when necessary.
• Clear communication skills and a professional, positive approach.
• Familiarity with cleaning agents, safety practices, and maintenance tools is preferred.
• Availability for flexible schedules, including evenings and occasional weekends.
