Role overview
The Communications Advisor will act as a strategic communication partner to technical and professional teams within the Program Management and Delivery (PMD) branch. This role focuses on community engagement, media relations, issues handling, public affairs, and managing stakeholder relationships.
This is a temporary opportunity based in Brisbane, Queensland.
Key responsibilities
- Run and coordinate both internal and external communication work across statewide branch and division projects, while giving project managers and stakeholders ongoing strategic advice and helping shape and deliver communication plans.
- Support the PMD Greater Leadership Team and subject matter experts with advice on media, issues management, risk review, community engagement, and the use of suitable communication channels and tools.
- Organise and oversee major communication activities and events such as displays, expos, awards, roadshows, launches, media events, and other branch-required engagements.
- Prepare a wide range of communication outputs, including ministerial briefings, correspondence, presentations, newsletters, flyers, media releases, display content, and speech notes for both internal and external audiences.
- Deliver training, guidance, and practical support to branch employees and consultants so they can strengthen communication capability and meet accessibility and branding standards required across the department.
- Create and apply branch communication strategies, processes, procedures, and policies that help PMD meet its broader strategic goals.
