Role overview
The Commis Chef will support the kitchen team by helping prepare, cook, and present food to a consistent standard so service runs smoothly and guests receive satisfactory meals.
Key duties
- Report to work in full uniform, on time, and neatly presented in line with workplace rules.
- Prepare and cook items for the assigned section, maintaining the quality standards expected while working alongside fellow Commis Chefs and senior chefs.
- Keep worktops, tables, refrigerators, and other shared kitchen areas clean and orderly throughout the shift.
- Follow all hygiene rules covering uniform, personal cleanliness, and kitchen sanitation.
- Make sure all required mise en place is completed before service begins.
- Notify the Chef or supervisor about any issues with equipment, fixtures, or fittings, and avoid improper use of kitchen tools and appliances.
- Complete cleaning tasks according to the assigned schedules.
- Observe and follow company policies relating to fire safety, health and safety, hygiene, food safety, customer care, and security.
- Attend training sessions and meetings when asked to do so.
- Prepare and serve staff meals that are varied, nutritious, and in line with the agreed standard.
- Read and follow the responsibilities set out in the Health and Safety Statement and Staff Handbook.
- Carry out other reasonable tasks assigned by management when needed.
- Perform HACCP responsibilities to the best of your ability.

This is a full-time, on-site position in Sligo, County Sligo, Ireland.
Working conditions
The role requires adherence to food safety, cleanliness, and workplace safety procedures at all times, along with readiness to support kitchen operations as needed.
