Role overview

Reporting to the Supervisor, Cleaning, this position is responsible for keeping the facility clean, orderly, safe, and welcoming for staff, visitors, and participants. The role also includes specialized sanitation work, stock tracking, floor care, and additional duties assigned by management.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and wash walls, doors, furnishings, windows, blinds, partitions, windowsills, elevators, and picture frames, both inside and outside where applicable.
• Sanitize restrooms, kitchens, offices, participant areas, and shared spaces.
• Clean refrigerators, freezers, sinks, countertops, and similar surfaces.
• Carry out specialized cleaning tasks that require specific training, such as white room or Hep-C cleaning.
• Remove trash and handle waste disposal according to site procedures.
• Restock essentials like soap, toilet paper, paper towels, and hand sanitizer.
• Unclog sinks and toilets using approved tools and products, when required by the site.
• Sweep, mop, and wash floors and staircases.
• Vacuum carpets and shampoo them when needed.
• Strip, wax, and polish flooring.
• Inspect, clean, and wash lockers, locker rooms, and related spaces.
• Remove debris and clean heavily soiled or damaged rooms.
• Perform deeper seasonal or maintenance-related cleaning work.
• Track cleaning supplies and consumable inventory.
• Help train and orient new team members.
• Safely use, carry, and maintain cleaning tools, equipment, and materials.
• Keep tools, equipment, and assigned areas in proper condition and cleanliness.
• Report defects, hazards, irregularities, or maintenance concerns to the supervisor and take corrective steps when appropriate.
• Carry out other related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma completed.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Flexibility to work weekends when needed.
• Availability to work on site in Montreal at 1200 Beaumont.
• Willingness to travel to the Laval site as required.
• Basic English reading ability for key documents.
• Advanced French proficiency.
• Computer literacy.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment safely.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and cleaning products.
• Ability to follow procedures and instructions accurately.
• Strong organization and ability to work independently.
• Discretion and respect for confidentiality.

Work schedule and conditions

This is a permanent full-time role with an evening schedule, typically between 2:30 pm and 11:00 pm. The position is based onsite in Montreal and may require travel to Laval as needed. Altasciences also notes that English fluency is an essential job requirement because the role involves reading protocols, study designs, and clinical research documents written in English for regulatory purposes.
