Overview
Sky Handling Partner is hiring a part-time Check-in Agent for Dublin Airport in Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland. This is a customer-facing airport operations role where you will support passengers from check-in through boarding, helping to create a smooth and positive travel experience. The position suits someone who enjoys working with people, can stay calm in a busy environment, and is comfortable with a varied day where priorities can change quickly.
Role summary
In this position, you will collaborate with colleagues across different departments, airport staff, and airline representatives to keep passenger services running efficiently. You will be expected to balance customer service with operational accuracy, helping manage passenger flow, responding to disruptions, and supporting safety and security procedures throughout the airport journey.
Key responsibilities
- Check in passengers and their baggage for the correct flight while following the required procedures.
- Confirm travel documents meet immigration, security, and airline standards.
- Ask all required security screening questions in line with IAA directives.
- Support disrupted passengers according to airline rules and direction from supervisors or duty managers.
- Assist passengers who need special assistance or extra help.
- Handle boarding accurately, ensuring passenger counts are recorded properly and safety and security rules are followed.
- Provide consistently polite, professional, and friendly service.
- Welcome arriving passengers and direct or escort them through the correct immigration process.
- Keep grooming and presentation at the standard required by company policy.
- Escalate system faults, procedural problems, or operational issues to your supervisor.
- Take extra care to avoid duplicate check-in mistakes.
- Carry out other operational tasks when needed, including support for other departments.
Requirements
- Prior experience in customer service.
- Confidence working under pressure in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong organisation, communication, and people skills.
- Willingness to work rostered shifts and adjust to operational disruption when needed.
- Professional approach and ability to follow instructions from duty managers and the station manager.
- Strong record of attendance, punctuality, and timekeeping.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old because of the nature of airport operations.
- Successful candidates must complete a 5-year security background check and Garda Vetting in line with aviation security rules.
- Candidates must have the legal right to live and work in the European Union.
- Excellent written and spoken English is required for passenger interaction, team communication, and accurate documentation.
- This role includes early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and public holidays, with shifts mainly starting from 03:00.
- Ability to remain calm, organised, and professional in time-sensitive situations is essential.
- Commitment to company grooming and uniform standards is required.
- Desirable: Manual Handling Certificate.
- Desirable: Experience in an operational environment.
- Desirable: Previous customer service experience.
Working hours and contract
This is a permanent part-time position with a six-month probation period. The contract guarantees 20 hours per week, although extra hours are often available depending on operational needs. Flexibility is important because flight delays, schedule changes, and passenger demand may increase working hours. Shift lengths are generally between 4 and 10 hours and may include early starts, late finishes, weekends, and public holidays.
Pay
The role offers an hourly rate of €14.79 to €14.94 inclusive. Overtime is paid at time and a half.
