Role overview
This opportunity for a Butcher in Dublin is an important role within the wider organisation and supports the company’s continued growth. The position is suited to someone who works well with others, stays motivated by results, and is keen to build new knowledge and capabilities. Induction training will be provided.
Key accountabilities
- Build practical knowledge of product handling, placement, and inventory control processes.
- Handle goods inward activity and support stock control tasks.
- Verify weighing-in procedures and check product specifications.
- Manage product storage carefully, including correct stock rotation.
- Complete the end-of-week stock count for the financial controller.
- Protect the health and safety of yourself and colleagues at all times.
- Follow Sysco’s preferred working methods and alert a supervisor immediately if any unsafe situation is identified.
- Report product damage, accidents, and any food safety related concerns.
- Use only basic IT skills as required for the role.
- Maintain hygiene standards and good housekeeping across the department.
- Support the butchery team whenever needed and available.
Requirements
- You should be a driven and self-starting individual.
- Ability to work as part of a team, while also handling tasks independently when required.
- Previous experience in a busy meat production or food preparation setting is an advantage.
- Willingness to follow HACCP procedures and comply with food safety standards.
- Clear communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the business.
- Strong verbal and written English skills are essential.
- Experience working to food safety and quality procedures is important.
- You must be adaptable and comfortable working flexibly.
