Role overview

This position is a prominent internal business development role within an expanding professional services firm. The focus is not on direct client acquisition; instead, you will support senior leaders by keeping commercial priorities moving, helping them implement growth plans, and maintaining momentum on business development activity across the organisation.

The role blends sales enablement, stakeholder coordination, CRM management, pipeline oversight, and commercial planning. You will collaborate with Partners and Directors across several service lines, helping connect teams, uncover growth opportunities, and encourage cross-selling across the business.

In this role, you will become a dependable advisor to senior stakeholders, making sure business development stays visible and actionable even when they have competing commitments.

Key responsibilities

  • Work alongside senior leaders to advance sales and industry growth priorities across two core industry groups.
  • Serve as the main point of coordination for business development activity, following up actions and keeping opportunities progressing.
  • Spot and support cross-selling opportunities between service lines and business units.
  • Assist with the launch and adoption of a new CRM system, encouraging participation, behaviour change, and effective working practices.
  • Convert CRM information into commercial insight, including revenue trends, sales activity, pipeline status, and growth potential.
  • Promote stronger discipline in pipeline management and opportunity tracking.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and practical recommendations to support commercial decision-making by leadership teams.
  • Coordinate strategic bids and proposals, ensuring appropriate guidance, governance, and best practice throughout.
  • Support client engagement initiatives, events, and relationship-building activity alongside the marketing team.
  • Partner with colleagues across the wider UK organisation to exchange best practice and contribute to larger growth opportunities.

Ideal candidate

This opportunity suits someone who prefers enabling others behind the scenes and helping senior stakeholders operate more effectively. Suitable experience may come from sales enablement, business development, partnerships, marketing in professional services, bids and proposals, commercial operations, or account management.

Experience and skills

You should bring confidence in managing stakeholders, including the ability to influence senior leaders and challenge constructively when needed. Experience supporting business development or growth programmes in a complex organisation is important, along with familiarity with CRM tools and data-led decision-making.

You should also understand pipeline management, reporting, and commercial performance measures, and have experience coordinating bids, proposals, or strategic growth initiatives. Strong project coordination and organisation are essential, as is the ability to juggle multiple priorities and bring people together around shared goals.
