What the role involves
In this position, you will help maintain a professional custodial service for building operations within Portsmouth Naval Base. You will support the Warship business support stream by helping ensure the ship hall operates in a safe and secure environment that enables teams to work effectively.
Key duties
- Coordinate with building occupants and managers so that required facilities and services remain in proper order.
- Review health and safety notices and make sure they are current in line with the latest Portsmouth Naval Base communications.
- Manage fire alarm tests and related procedures.
- Take the lead on SHE-related activities and encourage positive safety behaviours among occupants across all buildings.
Essential experience and skills
- An engineering-related background, shown through effective contribution as a team member.
- Strong customer service capability, with the ability to maintain productive relationships with internal and external contacts.
- Working knowledge of SHE practices.
Team context
This opportunity sits within the Facilities Management Team at the Naval Base. The site supports the conversion of naval base materials into parts and equipment used for MOD warships, making the role important to the future of the navy and the development of the warship services industry. As a custodian, you will help look after the building and facility needs that support these fast-moving projects.
