Role overview

GFL Environmental Inc. is hiring a Battery Processor for its Hamilton, Ontario facility. This full-time, on-site role supports industrial operations involving battery processing, material movement, data recording, and general plant upkeep.

Key responsibilities

• Handle the processing of batteries as part of daily plant operations.
• Move raw material, scrap, and recyclable items around the facility using a forklift.
• Record information and complete data entry in Microsoft Excel and Greentrax.
• Keep work areas and equipment clean and orderly.
• Take on additional duties as directed by management.

Knowledge, skills, and competencies

• Secondary school completion is required.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including heavy lifting.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed.
• Forklift experience is considered an advantage.
• Manual material handling requires physical strength.
• Work involves extended standing, walking, and occasional climbing of ladders and stairs.
• Proper use and maintenance of required PPE, including a respirator mask, is mandatory.

Working conditions

• The role requires standing for long stretches of time.
• Exposure to industrial conditions such as heat, cold, dirt, dust, moisture, and noise is possible.
• You must be comfortable working independently as well as within a larger team.
• Communication in English, both spoken and written/electronic, is required.

Schedule and safety requirements

The plant runs five days a week. You may need to work extra hours or outside normal working hours to meet customer needs. This is a safety-sensitive position, and any offer of employment depends on successful completion of a drug and alcohol test.
