Stellenbeschreibung

Role overview

This opportunity is for someone who is motivated by patient care and able to thrive in a busy clinical setting. The position supports the delivery of high-quality sleep medicine services and involves both administrative and technical duties within the sleep team.

What you will do

You will provide day-to-day support to the sleep service, working alongside sleep consultants, the consultant physiologist, senior sleep physiologists and sleep physiologists. The role includes assisting with home sleep study services and equipment, as well as responding professionally to patients and healthcare colleagues who have questions about these services.

You will also build and maintain the skills needed to work as an Assistant Sleep Technician in a defined clinical environment. Full induction, training and a structured competency programme will be provided, and you are expected to complete all core competencies within 4 weeks of starting.

Clinical equipment and testing support

Training will cover the use of Home Sleep Study equipment such as WatchPAT, actigraphy and oximetry devices, along with support for overnight polysomnography and daytime Multiple Sleep Latency Test patients. This work must be carried out in line with American Academy of Sleep Medicine and European Sleep Research Society guidance.

You will be responsible for the care, cleaning and maintenance of HSS, PSG and MSLT equipment in accordance with departmental procedures.

Working pattern

The post requires occasional late shifts because patients need to be prepared for overnight PSG testing. This is usually once each week, although at times it may happen twice in a week.

Additional information

Applicants should make sure they meet the qualifications listed in the person specification, as successful candidates will need to provide evidence of them.

Trust values and strategy

The Trust's 2023-2030 strategy is built around four priorities: delivering high-quality care for all, being a great place to work, building partnerships that create impact, and achieving excellence in research and education. A strong focus is also placed on reducing health inequalities and working with communities to make healthcare fairer.

The organisation's values are compassion, pride, inclusion and teamwork.

About the employer

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is committed to improving care for the people it serves and supporting staff development within a collaborative environment.
