About the Role

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Band 5 Assistant Psychologist for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role is crucial in supporting the delivery of Neuro Psychology rehabilitation services, including in-reach to inpatient beds and community-based work with stroke survivors and individuals with acquired brain injuries. You will assist in managing patients with cognitive, emotional, and behavioural challenges, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes and well-being.

The position is based in the South of Cambridgeshire, with potential travel across the county. The role involves agile working, utilizing virtual consultations, and requires access to a smartphone and laptop. CPFT is committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care and fostering a supportive environment for staff development through in-house training and competency packages.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of neuropsychological care to individuals recovering from stroke and other brain injuries.
  • Provide psychological interventions under the direct supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, nurses, and rehabilitation assistants.
  • Work with patients in community settings and their own homes as part of the Early Supported Discharge for Stroke and Community Neuro Rehab teams.
  • Assist patients in managing cognitive and psychosocial challenges to achieve their rehabilitation potential.
  • Contribute to improving health, care, and outcomes for patients.
  • Utilize virtual consultation methods for patient caseload management.
