In this post, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes doctors, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and nursing staff, with regular guidance from experienced clinical psychologists.

Main purpose of the role

This position supports the continued growth and delivery of clinical neuropsychology services within CERU. You will contribute to the assessment and treatment of emotional, cognitive, and behavioural difficulties following acquired brain injury, helping patients with rehabilitation and recovery.

Key duties

  • Support the assessment and management of behaviours of concern.
  • Help deliver wellbeing-focused interventions and positive behavioural support approaches.
  • Assist with the assessment of emotional and cognitive difficulties after acquired brain injury.
  • Support the planning and delivery of interventions for anxiety, fatigue, and low mood.
  • Conduct cognitive screening and other targeted neuropsychological assessments under supervision.
  • Help deliver cognitive rehabilitation programmes to address cognitive impairment following acquired brain injury.
  • Assist in selecting and using psychological measures to evaluate patient work, training, and group interventions, including baseline and outcome data collection systems.
  • Contribute to the development of training materials and support staff education within CERU.
  • Take part in audit, research, service evaluation, statistics gathering, teaching, and project work as required.

Candidate requirements

Applicants should hold at least a 2:1 psychology degree that is recognised by the British Psychological Society and must have Graduate Basis for Membership of the BPS. Previous experience of working with people with acquired brain injuries in neurorehabilitation settings is also required.
