Role overview

Imagination is seeking an experienced 2D Designer to develop memorable brand-led experiences for audiences and clients. The role sits within the Creative - 2D / Brand team in New York and focuses on turning ideas into visual work people can see, interact with, and remember.

You will contribute to projects for both global and local brands, shaping visual identities and campaign assets that span physical spaces, digital channels, content, presentations, events, and related touchpoints. The work is varied, fast-moving, and suited to someone who enjoys creative problem-solving and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Creative Directors, Strategists, Producers, and other creatives to build strong brand experiences.
  • Develop concepts, mood boards, creative directions, and early-stage ideas that help guide clients and internal teams.
  • Confidently present design thinking and explain the reasoning behind creative choices.
  • Carry concepts from initial exploration through to delivery and implementation.
  • Create identity systems for experiential campaigns, exhibitions, activations, live events, and brand-led experiences.
  • Deliver polished design work from concept development through final artwork and production.
  • Design for a wide mix of outputs including environmental graphics, signage, presentations, digital and social content, print materials, branded assets, and campaign collateral.
  • Contribute to digital experiences, including UI design and UX considerations for interactive touchpoints when needed.
  • Prepare production-ready artwork with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Maintain and evolve brand guidelines so visual consistency is preserved across all applications.
  • Build clear, persuasive presentations that communicate ideas visually and effectively.
  • Work closely with producers, artworkers, and client-side stakeholders to ensure creative quality is carried through to final execution.
  • Keep up with trends in design, branding, culture, technology, experiential work, motion, AI tools, and emerging creative practices.
  • Share references, inspiration, and new ideas with the wider team.
  • Continue developing skills and explore new methods for creating meaningful brand experiences.

Requirements

  • 3 to 6 years of experience as a Graphic Designer, Brand Designer, Digital Designer, or Visual Designer in a creative, branding, experiential, or integrated agency environment.
  • A qualification in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Visual Arts, or a closely related creative field.
  • A strong portfolio showing branding, graphic design, digital design, visual identity, experiential work, campaign design, and creative thinking.
  • Advanced ability with Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Working proficiency in Figma.
  • Experience producing artwork for both print and digital applications.
  • Good understanding of UI design and UX principles.
  • Experience building storyboards, concepts, and proof-of-concept visuals.
  • Motion graphics or animation experience, especially in Adobe After Effects, is a plus.
  • Strong grasp of typography, layout, colour, composition, and visual storytelling.
  • Experience designing for events, exhibitions, retail spaces, activations, or experiential marketing is highly desirable.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills with confidence in client and team discussions.
  • Strong organisation and time management skills, including the ability to handle multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
