About Fishwife
Fishwife is a woman-founded, woman-led food company on a mission to make responsibly sourced, premium, and delicious tinned seafood a regular pantry staple. The company works with well-managed fisheries and aquaculture farms to bring the spirit of conservas culture to North American tables. Founded in December 2020, Fishwife has been highlighted by major outlets including The New York Times, Bon Appetit, Forbes, Vogue, LA Times, and INSIDER.
Role Overview
Fishwife is hiring a Technology & Systems Lead to take ownership of the platforms, integrations, and data foundations that keep the business operating smoothly. This role blends systems administration and business enablement: you will oversee ERP, EDI, and the wider software ecosystem; create the automations and integrations that connect these tools; build dashboards and data infrastructure used by leadership; strengthen cybersecurity and data protection; and act as the main internal systems partner for teams across Operations, Sales, Finance, and Marketing. You will also help shape the future IT direction of the company as it scales.
This position is not focused on classic IT help desk support. Fishwife needs someone technically strong enough to be trusted across systems, solve problems quickly, reduce manual work, recommend the right tools, and keep everything running efficiently behind the scenes.
Key Responsibilities
Software Implementation and Systems Ownership
- Run administration for core business systems, including ERP and EDI setups, covering configuration, migrations, access management, workflows, and continuous improvements.
- Manage EDI partner relationships from start to finish, including onboarding, mapping documents, handling exceptions, and keeping order, shipment, and invoice processes dependable.
- Drive software selection, implementation, and upgrade projects from needs assessment and vendor review through configuration, testing, training, and launch.
- Administer company-wide SaaS tools, including provisioning, licensing, SSO, and security controls, while constantly reviewing the stack for consolidation or replacement opportunities.
- Keep detailed documentation for systems, workflows, and trading partner specifications.
Integrations, Automation, and Data
- Develop and maintain connections between ERP, EDI, WMS, e-commerce, CRM, finance, and marketing systems using APIs, iPaaS, and middleware, while monitoring transaction accuracy for orders and inventory.
- Spot repetitive manual processes across the business and convert them into automated workflows in partnership with department leads.
- Create and support a centralized data warehouse or similar infrastructure that brings together information from all key platforms into a dependable single source of truth.
- Set up and maintain BI dashboards and reporting tools that provide leadership and department heads with timely business visibility, while supporting broader data access and self-service modeling across teams.
- Use AI capabilities such as LLMs, copilots, agentic workflows, and built-in platform AI features to solve operational problems, and help define responsible usage standards for data, accuracy, and governance.
IT Strategy, Operations, and Administration
- Act as Fishwife’s primary technology contact, overseeing all end-user systems and processes including device purchasing, lifecycle management, and off-boarding so employees always have current, reliable equipment.
- Own a multi-year IT roadmap aligned with business growth, and assess emerging SaaS products and technologies to keep the company secure, scalable, and competitive.
- Work cross-functionally to identify non-scalable processes, uncover root causes, and recommend practical short-term and long-term fixes for business needs.
- Maintain IT policies and documentation, support secure onboarding for new hires, and coach teammates so they can use the available tools effectively.
- Oversee cybersecurity policies and programs and lead incident response when issues arise.
- Develop and manage the annual IT budget, making evidence-based recommendations on technology investments.
- Stay current on new tools, platforms, and AI capabilities, and bring forward ideas that improve how the company works.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong ability in organization, project management, and communication.
- Comfort translating technical ideas for non-technical stakeholders and vice versa.
- Hands-on technical background that includes some combination of ERP administration and EDI management.
- Experience building BI dashboards and working with data warehouse or reporting systems.
- Experience creating AI usage policies and training tools.
- Working knowledge of WMS, 3PL integrations, and e-commerce systems such as Shopify.
- Ability to script in Python, JavaScript, or similar languages.
- Good command of Excel and Google Workspace.
- Experience in CPG, food and beverage, consumer goods, or DTC/wholesale settings is preferred.
- Comfort working in smaller or fast-growing brands where ownership and flexibility matter.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
Values
Fishwife’s values center on thoughtful creativity, strong partnerships, ownership, and adaptability. The team aims to build something delightful and intentional, work well with others inside and outside the company, act like owners with initiative and trust, and move through change with resilience and grace.
Compensation and Benefits
Fishwife offers a competitive salary, robust health benefits, and unlimited vacation.
