About the role

Affinidi is looking for an experienced, solution-driven Staff Software Engineer with full-stack expertise to join the Affinidi Elements team in Dublin. The role involves working with global colleagues across product, design, infrastructure, architecture, and engineering to improve and expand a multi-part platform. The position combines system design, architecture, practical development, performance testing, and integration work.

What you will do

• Build new features and improve the Affinidi Elements product in a secure, well-tested, and high-performance manner, with a primary focus on TypeScript and React.
• Review highly complex information and turn it into practical, actionable recommendations.
• Partner with Product Management and other engineering stakeholders, including UX, to maintain strong quality standards in a fast-moving, iterative environment.
• Promote better product quality, security, and application performance.
• Tackle technical challenges with broad scope and high complexity.
• Write code that follows internal expectations for style, maintainability, and best practices in large-scale systems, and help reinforce those standards through code review.
• Take full ownership of moderately to highly complex features and improvements with limited direction, while contributing to larger team initiatives.
• Support and mentor other engineers, and help improve team and organizational processes and tools.

What the company is looking for

• Experience solving performance and optimization issues, including diagnosing problems early and preventing them, with the ability to share knowledge effectively across others.
• Strong full-stack development background, with deep hands-on experience in JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, and React.
• Additional language experience such as Rust, Dart, C#, Java, or Golang is considered valuable.
• Solid cloud expertise, especially with AWS and cloud-native environments.
• Understanding of design patterns and practical experience building and deploying microservices in the cloud.
• Strong technical writing ability, including familiarity with the C4 model and Architectural Decision Records.
• Comfort working with REST APIs and applying Test-Driven Development effectively.
• A strong focus on privacy by design, security, testing, high-performance systems, and mentoring, along with clear communication, inclusion, and visibility.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced startup setting with autonomy, experimentation, and collaboration across the full stack and across a global team.

Bonus experience

• Experience creating external SDKs, APIs, or CLI tools.
• Experience collaborating across functions, locations, and time zones.
• Background in decentralised identity solutions.
• Experience building systems that require cryptography.
