Site Engineer/Project Engineer

About the opportunity

ConsultANZ is recruiting a Site Engineer / Project Engineer for a long-established civil contractor known for delivering intricate infrastructure works throughout New Zealand. This role offers the chance to contribute to a varied mix of projects and work alongside a team focused on technically demanding delivery.

You will be involved in a broad range of civil infrastructure assignments, including water infrastructure, three waters, marine works, structural projects, treatment plants, reservoirs, and general civil construction. The position is well suited to someone who wants exposure to high-profile infrastructure delivery and the opportunity to build a long-term career.

Key responsibilities

• Support the planning, coordination, and execution of civil infrastructure projects.
• Track site activities to confirm work is aligned with design requirements, safety expectations, and quality standards.
• Work closely with project managers, site personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to keep delivery on track.
• Maintain project records, reports, and construction documentation accurately.
• Help manage project timelines, labour, resources, and budgets to ensure smooth delivery.
• Spot engineering or construction issues early and take action to resolve them promptly.
• Ensure quality assurance procedures and project controls are followed consistently.
• Promote effective communication and teamwork across project groups and client interfaces.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of postgraduate experience in civil infrastructure.
• A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
• Previous experience working as a Site Engineer or Project Engineer in civil, construction, mechanical, or infrastructure environments.
• Experience in water, three waters, treatment plants, reservoirs, marine works, structural projects, or general civil construction is highly valued.
• Strong grasp of construction methods, engineering fundamentals, and project delivery practices.
• Clear and confident communication, along with solid stakeholder management ability.
• A proactive, practical mindset with strong problem-solving capability.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

Benefits

• Base salary in the range of NZ$80,000 to NZ$120,000, depending on experience.
