Role overview
As a Relief Dispenser, you’ll move between stores within a defined local area and play an important part in the pharmacy team. You’ll support the pharmacist and other healthcare colleagues to help deliver pharmacy and healthcare services safely and efficiently.
Most of your day will be spent in the healthcare area of the store, where you’ll build strong relationships with patients by taking time to understand their needs. Your work will include welcoming customers, dispensing prescriptions, supplying medicines safely, and offering healthcare guidance so people can make informed choices about their health and wellbeing.
This position is based in the UK only. Remote applicants will not be considered, and candidates outside the UK will only be progressed if they can provide relevant UK qualifications and evidence of the right to work.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense prescriptions while following safe-supply practices, including ordering medicines, labelling, endorsing, and collecting prescriptions.
- Support pharmacists and other healthcare colleagues with the day-to-day delivery of pharmacy services.
- Offer patients advice on medicines and direct queries to the Pharmacist when needed.
- Follow standard operating procedures to ensure prescriptions are dispensed safely and legally.
- Stay current with in-store changes, new tools, and operational processes.
- Help patients manage repeat prescriptions in a reliable way, encouraging adherence and reducing medicine waste.
- Work closely with store teams to maintain continuity of care.
Tools, training and development
You’ll work with changing in-store technologies and new systems designed to improve dispensing processes, enhance patient safety, and free up more time for patient support. Regular updates and training will be provided to grow your healthcare knowledge, along with career development opportunities such as progression to Pharmacy Technician or a store leadership role.
Requirements
- Completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification at NVQ2 level, or an equivalent qualification.
- Willingness and ability to travel across the assigned area with full flexibility.

- Flexible benefits package.
- Free, 24/7 counselling and support through TELUS Health, the employee assistance programme.
