Role Purpose

The QA Tester role at SGI calls for prior quality assurance experience in video games, mobile testing, or a closely related area. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, analytically strong, and genuinely enthusiastic about games. Because the QA function works closely with the development team, this person should collaborate easily, communicate clearly, and understand how different disciplines contribute to a game project.

Key Responsibilities

• Check game content thoroughly to identify defects, inconsistencies, and other issues.
• Confirm that features are implemented according to design requirements.
• Partner with the QA Test Lead to keep a tracking process updated so fixes can be monitored and verified throughout the test cycle.
• Create, document, and run test cases across all stages of development.
• Deliver clear written and spoken updates on bugs, features, performance, and overall playability.
• Raise risks and any blocking issues immediately when discovered.
• Assist with build verification checklists across multiple devices and mobile platforms.
• Advocate for the end user perspective during testing.

Required Experience and Skills

To do well in this position, you should bring a strong interest in gaming, at least one year of experience in game testing or QA, and hands-on experience creating test plans and test scripts. Familiarity with one or more defect-tracking or test-management tools is expected, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional experience that would be an advantage includes prior work in the gaming industry, mobile testing exposure, and familiarity with Jira.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is CAD 45,000 to CAD 55,000 per year.

Work Location and Eligibility

This is a full-time role based on-site in the Downtown Vancouver office. Remote or hybrid working is not available for this position. Applicants must be local to the British Columbia area and legally eligible to work in Canada.
