Role overview

In this position, you will report to the Project Manager or Project Director and work within the Engineering Business Line during project execution. Your main responsibility will be to steer and oversee all engineering and technical work across the project, making sure it stays consistent with contractual commitments, project goals, and agreed timelines, budgets, and quality expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate engineering work across multiple disciplines while keeping project objectives, contract obligations, and quality requirements on track.
• Set up the project engineering team structure, including resource planning and collaboration with discipline leads.
• Drive the use of appropriate engineering and technology solutions from early project stages through to plant handover.
• Contribute to project planning and scheduling, with oversight of deliverables and any outsourced engineering scope.
• Manage technical risk, design reviews, and cross-discipline alignment to ensure solutions are coherent and optimized.
• Own and resolve major technical decisions, including conflicts between disciplines, while maintaining alignment with project direction.
• Track engineering budgets, manhours, and material costs, and recommend corrective actions when variances arise.
• Assist the Project Manager with client communication, contract matters, variation requests, and technical discussions.

Required background

The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, preferably in mechanical, chemical, civil, or a related field, along with 10 to 15 years of experience in engineering or project roles. Strong leadership experience in EPC projects within oil and gas, energy, or infrastructure is essential. English fluency is mandatory, while Italian, French, or Arabic would be an added advantage.

Technical and IT capabilities

You should be well versed in engineering design processes from concept through commissioning, and have a solid track record in project engineering leadership, planning, and multidisciplinary coordination. Experience in risk management, cost monitoring, and engineering budget control is important, as is knowledge of international codes, standards, QA/QC practices, and HSE expectations. You should also be comfortable working with clients, licensors, vendors, and subcontractors. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, along with familiarity in engineering/document control platforms; experience with ERP tools such as SAP is a plus.

Additional information

This role offers exposure to international projects and may involve global travel across EMEA, offshore, and onshore locations. The position is based in Doha, Qatar and is offered as a permanent, project-based role. Working hours are 45 per week, structured as 9 hours per day for 5 days a week. For technical clerk duties under offshore operations, availability around the clock may be required.
