About the Role

Double Cone Limited is a specialist consultancy working across civil engineering, Engineer to the Contract, project management, and development management in the Central Lakes area. With a strong pipeline of secured subdivision and land development work, the company is looking for a Project Manager with a civil engineering background to join the team from August 2026.

This role suits someone who wants direct involvement in delivery, client interaction, and overall project outcomes rather than being one part of a large, layered organisation. You will work closely with the Directors in a compact, high-performing team and take real ownership of your projects.

Role Overview

As Project Manager, you will oversee subdivision and infrastructure projects from construction through to final completion. You will guide project schedules, coordinate with key stakeholders, and work alongside contractors, consultants, councils, and clients to make sure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. The position also offers room to grow into client-side development management as your interests and experience develop.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle contract administration and certification under NZS 3910.
• Manage civil contractors and support day-to-day project delivery.
• Track programme, budget, and project risks.
• Review and manage contract variations.
• Carry out construction monitoring and prepare reports.
• Oversee compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Coordinate approvals and communicate with local authorities.
• Liaise with surveyors, civil designers, and specialist consultants.
• Work with project systems such as Procore, Smartsheet, Microsoft Excel, and Word.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking someone with at least 5 years of experience in land development, three waters engineering, civil construction, or project management. You should understand subdivision development and civil infrastructure work well, along with NZS 3910 contract administration.

The ideal candidate will also have practical civil design knowledge covering earthworks, stormwater, and wastewater infrastructure. Strong communication, stakeholder management, and independent working skills are important. A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering such as BEng, NZDE, DipEng, or an equivalent qualification is required.

Additional Information

The role is based in Arrowtown, Otago, New Zealand and is full-time and onsite. The intended start is August 2026. Applicants must be New Zealand residents or hold a valid work visa.
