Role overview

A leading institutional investor in Singapore is hiring an Investment Associate to support its global private markets activity. The role sits within a high-visibility team that works closely with senior investment leaders and contributes to the evaluation, oversight, and strategic management of a large portfolio spanning direct deals, co-investments, and fund investments.

This position is different from a classic private equity investing seat. It is not centered on originating transactions or driving execution end-to-end. Instead, the focus is on building independent opinions on prospective investments, carrying out thorough commercial and financial diligence, and assisting with portfolio-wide decisions across multiple sectors, geographies, and asset classes.

The opportunity offers exposure to large-scale private markets transactions worldwide, while operating at the intersection of investment underwriting, portfolio strategy, and investment committee decision-making.

Key responsibilities

• Perform independent commercial and financial due diligence on direct investments, co-investments, and fund opportunities across global private markets.
• Form investment views and recommendations for senior stakeholders, highlighting key risks, return drivers, and overall investment attractiveness ahead of investment committee reviews.
• Work alongside deal teams during diligence, adding challenge, insight, and an independent perspective to each opportunity.
• Prepare investment committee documentation and present conclusions to senior investment professionals and decision-makers.
• Carry out portfolio analysis, performance assessment, and strategic review work across existing holdings.
• Contribute to portfolio construction, capital allocation decisions, and broader investment strategy initiatives.
• Engage with private equity sponsors and investment managers to assess opportunities and gather market intelligence.
• Undertake thematic research and market mapping across sectors, regions, and investment approaches.

Candidate profile

Applicants are expected to bring around 2 to 4 years of experience in private equity, investment banking, or management consulting. The role calls for strong financial modelling, valuation, and analytical capability, along with a genuine interest in commercial diligence and investment evaluation.

Successful candidates should be comfortable assessing businesses, industries, and investment opportunities from both strategic and financial angles. They should also be able to develop their own conclusions, use sound commercial judgement, and contribute effectively in a demanding, highly analytical, collaborative environment.
