Role overview
The Mechanical Inspector supports the installation and verification of mechanical systems, with a focus on HVAC, chilled water networks, and related equipment. This position helps ensure all work matches project expectations, integrates properly with other systems, and is ready for testing, commissioning, and final handover.
Key responsibilities
- Examine HVAC systems, chilled water piping, ductwork, pumps, valves, and ventilation installations.
- Check that site execution follows approved drawings, technical specifications, and method statements.
- Assess WIRs, MIRs, and RFIs, and confirm that inspections are prepared correctly before approvals are issued.
- Track the installation of mechanical equipment to make sure it aligns with project requirements.
- Liaise with OEM vendors and contractors to verify interfaces and installation quality.
- Assist with commissioning activities, Integrated Systems Testing, and startup readiness.
- Spot quality defects, NCRs, and any items of non-compliance, then report them promptly.
- Keep inspection records, logs, and photo documentation up to date.
- Support snagging, punch-list resolution, and completion of the mechanical handover.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, and quality expectations, escalating concerns when required.
Candidate profile
- A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
- Prior experience in mechanical inspection on construction or industrial projects is expected.
- Experience in data centres, HVAC-heavy facilities, or mission-critical environments is an advantage.
- Solid knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical installation practices is necessary.
- Familiarity with inspection workflows, QA/QC records, and commissioning procedures is important.
- UPDA certification is preferred.
- Strong coordination ability and practical problem-solving skills are needed.
