Role overview
This part-time remote position is for a Junior Data Analyst with RICPTS. The role supports research work connected to criminology, forensic science, and security studies by turning raw information into accurate, easy-to-understand insights for editorial and research use.
What you will do
- Prepare, clean, and organize datasets so they are ready for analysis.
- Carry out basic statistical analysis to support research and editorial work.
- Create charts, graphs, and other visual summaries to present findings clearly.
- Help build straightforward data models when needed.
- Record the methods used and contribute data-related content to reports and articles.
- Work closely with editors, researchers, and subject experts to maintain data quality and clarity.
- Communicate proactively and independently in a remote work setting.
- Handle sensitive information carefully and follow research integrity standards.
Qualifications
The candidate should have a strong grasp of analytical thinking and data analysis, with the ability to interpret research information and form evidence-based conclusions. A working understanding of statistics and basic data modeling is required, including familiarity with statistical tests, regression, or similar techniques. The role also calls for clear communication skills so that complex findings can be explained in a simple and accessible way for non-specialist readers.
Tools and technical exposure
Applicants should be comfortable using data analysis tools such as Excel, R, Python, or similar platforms, along with visualization software like Tableau, Power BI, or comparable tools.
Academic background
A bachelor’s degree completed or currently in progress in data science, statistics, criminology, social sciences, computer science, or a related subject is expected.
