About the internship

BP Optima Pte. Ltd. is creating the infrastructure that helps regulated businesses make reliable decisions from messy real-world inputs such as documents, images, and logs. The platform combines domain-trained AI with deterministic policy logic to support auditable workflows for understanding, deciding, and routing enterprise cases.

This internship is for a Forward Deployed Engineer Trainee focused on small language models (SLMs) and production AI systems. You will work closely with the founding team on live enterprise use cases and help turn research ideas into dependable products.

What you'll do

• Collaborate with the founders on active AI decision systems used by enterprise customers.
• Train and adapt domain-specific SLMs to interpret text, images, and logs.
• Develop complete AI workflows, from data intake to final decision output, while applying policy rules and safeguards.
• Experiment with fine-tuning, embeddings, and retrieval-augmented generation methods.
• Evaluate model behavior, pinpoint weak spots, and improve overall accuracy.
• Move models from notebook prototypes into production-ready deployments.
• Improve inference speed and reduce operating cost without sacrificing quality.
• Keep refining results through testing, debugging, and iterative model improvements.

Who can apply

Applicants must be available for a remote internship, ready to begin between 27 June 2026 and 1 August 2026, and able to commit for 3 months. Candidates should have relevant skills and a strong interest in AI/ML work. Women restarting or beginning their careers are encouraged to apply, and freshers may also apply.

Requirements

• Strong command of Python and PyTorch.
• Comfort writing and reading production-grade code.
• At least one completed end-to-end machine learning project.
• Genuine interest in how machine learning and AI systems work under the hood.
• Practical exposure to fine-tuning, embeddings, RAG, or LLMOps is preferred.
• Exposure to Rust, or a willingness to learn it, is preferred.
• Experience from hackathons, open-source contributions, or personal AI projects is preferred.
• Strong analytical ability, curiosity, and an experimental mindset.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment that blends research and product execution.

Additional information

The internship stipend is INR 12,000 to 22,000 per month. There is 1 opening. The role begins immediately. If selected and later converted to a permanent role, the expected annual salary is ₹4,00,000 to ₹8,00,000.
