Entertainment Engineer

Role Overview

Musco Lighting is looking for an Entertainment Engineer to join its Entertainment Engineering team in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. This position focuses on designing, programming, supporting, and delivering entertainment lighting solutions for clients and live event environments.

What You’ll Need

The ideal candidate will have a 2-year or 4-year degree in Computer Science, Programming, Lighting Design, Theater Lighting, or a related discipline. Practical experience of 3 to 5 years is considered an advantage. Candidates should be comfortable with computer systems and have direct hands-on exposure to lighting design, lighting programming, and lighting operation, ideally in roles such as lighting technician, lighting programmer, console operator, or similar.

Experience with AVL networking is important, along with working knowledge of DMX, sACN, Artnet, and other lighting control protocols. Familiarity with lighting consoles and ETC platforms such as GrandMA, Hog, Eos, and Mosaic Designer would be beneficial. Knowledge of advanced design and pre-visualization tools like VectorWorks, WYSIWYG, Capture, Unreal Engine, or similar software is also helpful.

Additional strengths in web programming, networking, and scripting will support customization work. The role also calls for strong organization, attention to detail, the ability to handle several projects at once, and excellent written and spoken communication in both English and Arabic. You should be able to work closely with internal teams and outside stakeholders, stay composed under pressure, and build strong working relationships in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will work directly with clients to understand their creative goals and technical requirements, then convert those needs into custom lighting solutions. You will lead the programming and engineering side of entertainment lighting systems, including building control interfaces, lighting effects, and user-facing controls.

You will also support the servicing and upkeep of theatrical fixtures, lasers, and other specialized entertainment equipment. That includes calibration, testing, troubleshooting, and ensuring installed systems remain reliable and performance-ready for live events.

Using 3D modeling and pre-visualization tools, you will create accurate lighting simulations and presentations that help clients preview the final design before deployment. You will collaborate with the sales team on rendered content and show demonstrations, maintain thorough technical documentation, and take on other technical or project-related tasks as needed. Some work outside normal hours may be required because of different time zones.
