Electrical Estimator

Overview

Plan Group is seeking an Electrical Estimator in Ottawa, Ontario to support major, complex construction projects, including multi-million-dollar work that helps shape the future of the nation’s capital. What you will do

• Study project specifications and drawings, then carry the estimating process through to the preparation of competitive bids.
• Visit sites and attend tender walkthroughs to compare drawings with field conditions, reduce clashes, and identify practical solutions early.
• Prepare detailed material and labour quantity take-offs using estimating tools to build accurate quotations.
• Work with clients to collect details, resolve unclear points, and confirm wording or technical requirements.
• Obtain pricing from subcontractors and suppliers for inclusion in the final client quotation.
• Take part in bid close-out activities, including review meetings and related final checks.
• Support handover discussions with the project management team once a project has been awarded.

What the role requires

• At least 5 years of experience in electrical estimating; hands-on trade experience is considered an advantage.
• Applicants must submit a detailed project list along with their resume.
• A degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, or a similar educational background combined with trade experience.
• Design-build construction background is preferred, with full-cycle P3 project experience considered highly valuable.
• Strong command of Microsoft Office.
• Experience with Accubid Pro and/or Enterprise, LiveCount, and Bluebeam Revu would be beneficial.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
