About the Role
Mob Entertainment is a fast-growing independent multimedia studio known for the hit horror title Poppy Playtime. The franchise has become one of gaming’s standout new properties, and the studio is scaling alongside its continued success. Since launch, Poppy Playtime-related content has generated more than 100 billion YouTube views.
This opening is for an experienced and highly structured QA Lead to guide quality efforts across games and development workflows. The role centers on coordinating daily testing, aligning QA work across teams, mentoring testers, and helping deliver a polished experience from development through release.
The right person will bring deep game testing experience, prior leadership exposure, strong communication skills, and a genuine commitment to exceptional player experiences. Background with console and PC projects built in Unreal Engine is especially valuable.
In a fast-paced studio environment, the QA Lead is key to supporting development teams while upholding high standards for functionality, usability, stability, and overall game quality.
Team Leadership and Coordination
- Guide and support QA testers in their day-to-day testing activities.
- Distribute coverage based on priority, risk, and project milestones.
- Coach junior and mid-level testers through feedback and mentoring.
- Help define testing processes, standards, and best practices.
- Work with Production to keep testing schedules aligned with milestone goals.
Testing and Quality Oversight
- Build and run detailed test plans, test cases, and regression strategies.
- Supervise functional, gameplay, compatibility, and compliance testing.
- Find, record, reproduce, and rank issues using tools such as Jira.
- Make sure bug reports include clear reproduction steps, severity, and supporting details.
- Verify fixes and track patterns in recurring issues.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Design, Engineering, Art, and Production teams to raise overall quality.
- Take part in sprint planning, milestone checks, and release readiness reviews.
- Champion usability and player experience throughout development.
- Share testing progress, blockers, and risks clearly with stakeholders.
Process Improvement
- Improve QA reporting, testing workflows, and overall efficiency.
- Support automation tools and telemetry implementation when useful.
- Assist with console certification prep and submission tasks.
- Contribute to postmortems and ongoing process improvements.
Required Qualifications
- At least 4 years of experience in game QA, including 1–2 years in a senior or leadership role.
- Hands-on testing experience with PC and console games across multiple development cycles.
- Working knowledge of bug tracking and test management tools such as Jira and TestRail.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills.
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills in a fast-moving environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and creative teams.
- Strong enthusiasm for games and for delivering high-quality player experiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Unreal Engine production pipelines.
- Familiarity with certification standards for PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo platforms.
- Exposure to multiplayer, live-service, or cross-platform games.
- Basic familiarity with QA automation tools or scripting.
- Experience in horror, action, or cinematic game development.
- Comfort working with distributed or remote development teams.

Compensation
This is a contract role with an hourly rate that varies by location. Final pay within the applicable range depends on experience, qualifications, and work location.
- San Francisco, CA; New York City, NY; Los Angeles, CA; Seattle, WA; Boston, MA; and Washington, DC metro areas: $37–$51 per hour.
- Austin, TX; Denver, CO; Nashville, TN; Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; and Miami, FL metro areas: $32–$44 per hour.
- All other U.S. locations: $27–$38 per hour.
