Audit Coach

Role overview

This is a full-time, on-site Audit Coach position in Mangochi, Southern Region, Malawi. The role supports Sunbird Hotels & Resorts by strengthening financial and operational controls and helping teams improve audit readiness, compliance, and overall governance.

What you will do

You will examine financial statements and audit outputs, spot weaknesses in control systems, and work with teams to turn audit observations into practical improvements. The role also involves reviewing financial and operational data, sharing audit insights in a clear way, and supporting staff as they implement corrective measures aligned with company policies and regulatory expectations.

In addition, you will partner with finance and operations teams, carry out follow-up checks to confirm whether recommendations are working, and help drive ongoing improvements to internal audit practices.

Required background and strengths

The ideal candidate should bring strong analytical thinking, the ability to identify patterns, trends, and risk areas, and excellent communication skills for coaching teams and preparing reports or presentations. A solid grasp of finance concepts is important, especially in relation to hotel or hospitality operations.

You should be comfortable reading and interpreting financial statements such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Practical exposure to auditing, internal controls, and compliance is preferred, particularly in hospitality or a similar service environment.

A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or a related discipline is desirable, and professional certifications such as ACCA, CPA, or CIA would be an added plus. Integrity, attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams while managing several deadlines are also important for success in this role.

This position is based onsite and is centered on continuous improvement of audit processes, team coaching, and follow-through on corrective actions.
