Yard Labourer

Overview

Halifax C&D Recycling, a member of the Municipal Group of Companies, is looking for a permanent, full-time Yard Labourer to support its Dartmouth, Nova Scotia operations. This role focuses on sorting construction and demolition material, assisting with yard upkeep, and handling a range of manual and equipment-based tasks.

Work Schedule

The regular hours are Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, plus every second Saturday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Key Duties

• Keep the yard clean and carry out routine maintenance tasks.
• Separate rubble and other waste materials from the yard area.
• Wash and organize tools, equipment, supplies, and workspaces.
• Run parts and supply errands for the mechanic shop.
• Use small equipment such as skid steers, forklifts, small loaders, and brooms.
• Carry out physically demanding labour as needed.
• Stay alert to surroundings and work conditions at all times.
• Follow safety rules and procedures to help maintain a safe workplace.
• Take on additional duties when required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
• Strong spoken and written communication skills.
• Ability to complete different manual tasks using sound judgment and initiative.
• Capable of operating equipment safely and responsibly.
• Forklift experience is an advantage.
• Willingness to follow all safety policies and procedures.
