Role overview

This role is responsible for the day-to-day control of engineering spares, consumables, and related inventory. The purpose of the position is to make sure critical materials are available when needed to support maintenance and production, while keeping records accurate and working within company standards. The post is graded at PE12 and reports to the Stores Supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, store, issue, and control engineering spares and consumables.
• Keep inventory records up to date and ensure the system reflects actual stock on hand.
• Track stock levels, replenishment triggers, and supplier lead times to avoid shortages and limit operational delays.
• Perform cycle counts, look into stock differences, and prepare inventory-related reports.
• Handle delivery paperwork, stock movements, requisitions, and work orders accurately.
• Liaise with Procurement and Finance to close out stock and supplier-related queries.
• Maintain the tools register and oversee the issue and return of equipment.
• Assist with loading and unloading materials and ensure proper storage practices are followed.
• Contribute to improvement efforts that reduce waste, lower costs, and strengthen service delivery.
• Follow quality, food safety, housekeeping, and occupational health and safety requirements at all times.

Requirements

• Matric is required.
• A diploma in Stores or Logistics is an advantage.
• Prior experience in stock control, stores administration, or warehouse operations in a manufacturing setting is needed.
• Good computer skills and familiarity with ERP systems are required; JDE experience will be beneficial.
• Strong attention to detail, sound problem-solving ability, and excellent organizational skills are essential.
