Role Overview
MongoDB is hiring a Software Engineer 2 to help shape and improve products that serve a large global user base. The role involves building, validating, and refining software solutions while tackling challenging technical problems. Work Location
This position follows a hybrid work arrangement, and candidates are expected to be based in Dublin.
What You Bring
We are looking for people with a solid computer science background who are either finishing or have completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline. This opportunity is suited to recent graduates, including those graduating in Summer 2026, as well as professionals with up to 18 months of experience.
You should have a strong grasp of core computer science concepts such as data structures, algorithms, and software design. Familiarity with at least one commonly used programming language is important; examples include C++, Go, Ruby, Python, Java, JavaScript, and Node.js, or another comparable high-level language. Prior experience creating and testing software through an internship, personal project, coding competition, or research work is also valued.
What You Will Do
In this role, you will write and test software in modern high-level programming languages. You will help identify, design, validate, and support new features in MongoDB products, using strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and design principles.
You may also lead software initiatives that help users monitor and understand their MongoDB deployments. The role requires thoughtful problem-solving, keeping the broader context in mind, and balancing immediate delivery needs with deeper research and development work. Collaboration with cross-functional partners will be central to creating polished features for customers.
