Site Engineer

Job Summary

The Site Engineer will handle the day-to-day coordination of construction work at the project site, making sure activities are carried out safely, within the planned timeline, and in line with approved drawings, technical specifications, method statements, and quality requirements. The position works closely with the Section Engineer to supervise labour, coordinate subcontractors, maintain site records, and track progress toward project goals.

Core Duties

Drawings and Site Records

• Check construction drawings for completeness and accuracy, and ensure only the latest issued-for-construction versions are used on site.
• Remove obsolete drawings and documents from circulation and keep document control tight.
• Keep site paperwork current, including daily diaries, progress reports, and related records.
• Compile daily reports showing executed quantities, workforce deployment, and work locations.

Site Supervision and Execution

• Oversee construction activities on site to confirm they follow approved drawings, specifications, work schedules, and method statements.
• Track progress against the construction programme and flag delays, obstacles, or emerging trends to the Section Engineer.
• Guide foremen, trade foremen, and land surveyors so manpower, materials, and equipment are used effectively.
• Manage and coordinate subcontractor activities across trades and escalate site issues and progress updates as needed.

Quality Control and Inspection

• Arrange and carry out inspections and tests according to approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
• Make sure work is fully completed and compliant before it is offered for inspection.
• Raise inspection requests and pass quality documentation to the Quality Engineer.
• Support any rework or corrective action directed by the Section Engineer.
• Use only approved materials and verify that work is executed from the latest approved drawings and documents.

Coordination and Communication

• Share technical concerns, site events, and progress updates with the Section Engineer.
• Work with the Section Engineer to identify requirements for equipment, manpower, and materials.
• Liaise with other sections and disciplines to keep work aligned and execution smooth.
• Confirm that verbal instructions from engineers are understood, clarified, and documented before work starts.

Safety and Compliance

• Apply site safety procedures in line with the Project HSE Plan.
• Observe site safety conditions, report hazards or risks to the Safety Officer or Section Engineer, and make sure corrective measures are taken.
• Encourage safe work habits and continuous compliance with safety rules.

Material and Resource Control

• Monitor material usage to reduce waste and ensure correct storage and handling.
• Track material consumption, overtime, equipment use, and power tool usage.
• Ensure the site has the resources needed to sustain progress and quality.

Programme and Instruction Compliance

• Follow the daily and weekly work plans issued by the Section Engineer.
• Carry out instructions from the Project Construction Manager (PCM) and Project Engineer (PE) after confirming they are clear and practical.
• Organize and schedule internal inspections for upcoming work to support on-time delivery.

Qualifications and Competencies

• A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture is required.
• At least 3 years of experience in civil construction projects, including villas and high-rise buildings, is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and site procedures is needed.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply design drawings, specifications, and method statements.
• Comfort using construction software and computer tools such as MS Office and AutoCAD.
• Good written and spoken English communication skills are expected.
• Strong attention to detail, along with sound analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to perform well in a team-based, fast-moving construction site environment.

Additional Information

This role is based on a live construction site in Abu Dhabi and requires close coordination with multiple site teams, subcontractors, and engineering disciplines. The position involves hands-on supervision, document control, quality checks, safety monitoring, and regular progress reporting.
