Role Summary

As a Senior Store Designer, you will shape and develop innovative retail spaces and store concepts that align with Wanzl Group’s forward-looking global vision. This full-time hybrid position in Leipheim calls for turning client needs into effective layouts, customer journeys, and visual merchandising solutions while working closely with internal teams and external collaborators. The role involves building and improving design proposals, preparing detailed drawings and presentations, assisting with implementation, and maintaining consistency across different retail formats and regions. You will work with cross-functional stakeholders, make customer visits when necessary, and combine on-site and remote work to keep projects moving and meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Develop creative store and retail design concepts that are tailored to customer needs and brand goals.
Translate briefs into practical layouts, customer flow plans, and merchandising approaches.
Prepare design documentation, visual presentations, and detailed plans for internal and external stakeholders.
Coordinate with project teams, partners, and other departments to support smooth execution.
Contribute to project rollout and implementation while keeping design quality consistent.
Adapt concepts for use across different store formats, markets, and regional requirements.
Visit customer locations when required to gather input and support project development.
Manage tasks efficiently across both office-based and remote working arrangements.

Qualifications

Strong experience in retail design and store design, with a proven ability to deliver imaginative and customer-focused concepts.
Solid capability in space planning, including zoning, movement patterns, and the efficient use of sales and service areas.
Educational or professional background in architecture, with exposure to building design, technical drawings, and engineering coordination.
Good command of interior design principles, including materials, lighting, fixtures, and branded environments.
Advanced working knowledge of design and planning tools such as CAD, BIM, and 3D visualization software.
Experience leading complex design work from the concept phase through to implementation, ideally in retail or commercial settings.
Comfort working with international, cross-functional teams and explaining design ideas clearly to varied stakeholders.
A degree in architecture, interior design, retail design, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with careful attention to detail and practicality.
Very good English skills; German language ability is helpful for working in Leipheim and with local partners.
