Role Summary

This is a full-time, on-site Security Officer position located in a central area of Kitui County, Kenya. The role centers on keeping premises secure through routine patrols, access control, incident response, and consistent observation of the site. The officer is expected to spot and report security concerns promptly, support visitors and staff, and work closely with site management and, where required, local authorities to maintain an orderly and safe environment.

Key Duties

• Keep watch over the premises and identify any activity that could affect safety or security.
• Carry out scheduled patrols and inspect the site regularly.
• Manage entry points and verify that only authorized people access buildings and facilities.
• Respond appropriately to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents.
• Record observations and submit clear, timely reports on incidents or safety issues.
• Check identification and confirm visitor access when needed.
• Monitor CCTV systems where such equipment is available.
• Apply site rules consistently and professionally.
• Offer directions, information, and support to visitors, employees, and clients.
• Coordinate with site management and, if necessary, local authorities to help maintain security.

Qualifications and Expectations

• Strong observation skills, situational awareness, and close attention to detail are essential.
• Good communication and people skills are needed to deal professionally with clients, visitors, and colleagues.
• Ability to think clearly and make sound decisions during incidents or emergencies.
• Basic report writing and documentation ability is required for incident records and daily reporting.
• Physical fitness is important, including the ability to stand, walk, and patrol for long periods.
• Security training, licensing, or certification required under local rules is an added advantage.
• Experience in security, law enforcement, or a similar role is helpful but not compulsory.
