Role overview
Eastlands Venue Services Limited is hiring a part-time Runner to support service operations at Medlock Square in Manchester. Medlock Square is being developed as a year-round destination for culture, leisure, and entertainment within the Etihad Campus, next to the Etihad Stadium and Co-op Live. The area is designed to celebrate Manchester’s heritage while creating a new landmark for food, drink, and shared experiences.
The venue will feature a broad food and beverage offer, including casual coffee spots, all-day dining, premium restaurants, and elevated dining experiences. The operation is intended to serve both everyday visitors and large event crowds, with service running throughout the week and across the events calendar.
What the role involves
In this position, you will help keep food and beverage service running smoothly by delivering items accurately, quickly, and to a high standard. You will work alongside Waiters, Bartenders, and Kitchen teams to support the pace of service and contribute to a strong guest experience.
This is a practical, fast-moving role that suits someone energetic, detail-oriented, and comfortable working as part of a busy hospitality team. You may be supporting polished restaurant service one day and high-volume matchday or event operations the next, always with the aim of creating a seamless experience for guests.
Key duties
- Help maintain a positive guest experience by ensuring food and drinks reach the correct tables promptly and accurately.
- Keep track of table numbers, service progress, and guest needs while supporting the Front of House team during service.
- Transport food and beverages safely and professionally while following company service standards.
- Stay in close communication with kitchen and service colleagues to ensure accurate handover and quick resolution of any issues.
- Assist with clearing tables and resetting them efficiently so service can continue at pace.
- Support opening and closing tasks, including preparing service stations and making sure stock and equipment are organised.
- Maintain cleanliness, order, and presentable service areas throughout the shift.
- Adapt to busy periods, including matchdays and major events, while keeping service standards consistent.
- Work closely with Waiters, Bartenders, Hosts, and Kitchen staff to ensure smooth coordination between Front of House and Back of House.
- Support team members wherever needed to improve efficiency and uphold service quality.
- Follow all health and safety, food safety, and company procedures.
- Represent the brand with a professional attitude, strong personal presentation, and attention to detail.
Skills and experience
To succeed in this role, you should bring strong communication and teamwork skills, a positive mindset, and the ability to work effectively in a busy environment. A guest-first approach, careful attention to detail, and flexibility around evenings, weekends, and event days are important.
Previous experience in hospitality, restaurants, bars, or events is useful, particularly in premium or high-volume settings. Familiarity with food and beverage service standards and experience in stadium, arena, hotel, or restaurant operations would also be an advantage.
