Role overview
Pacific International Lines (PIL) is hiring a Regional Procurement Executive for its West Africa and South Africa Regional Office in Accra, Ghana. The role sits within a global shipping organization with a long history in the industry and a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, and cross-cultural collaboration.
In this position, you will take charge of landside procurement across multiple countries in the region, covering areas such as container depots, trucking providers, and container repair yards. The role calls for strong structure, initiative, accountability, and the ability to introduce and manage processes across different geographies while maintaining sound governance and vendor compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee regional procurement activities end to end and keep them aligned with business objectives and compliance requirements.
- Maintain vendor master data and manage the full sourcing cycle, including RFQs/RFPs, competitive bidding, negotiations, purchasing, and post-purchase follow-up.
- Work with country teams to assess procurement needs and use those insights to shape RFQ preparation and sourcing choices.
- Create and run a fair, transparent vendor evaluation process that meets governance and regulatory expectations.
- Record due diligence steps and coordinate with local agencies to define strong vendor selection standards.
- Support contract lifecycle activities by linking end users, local vendors, and Singapore headquarters to ensure accountability and proper governance.
- Build and sustain a supplier relationship management approach that improves service quality and operational performance.
- Step in to support inventory monitoring for equipment so assets remain available at local agency sites when needed.
- Assist the logistics lead by coordinating with PIL agencies and headquarters on equipment planning based on stock levels and forecasted demand.
- Help track long-stay containers, both full and empty, at regional depots and terminals.
- Contribute to the off-hire, sublease, and on-hire coordination process.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate should have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in procurement or supply chain, along with more than five years of relevant experience handling end-to-end procurement. Experience in a regional role and/or the shipping industry is an added advantage.
You should understand procurement best practices, post-procurement activities, and core sourcing processes well. Exposure to project management methods will be helpful. Strong negotiation and influencing ability are important, as is familiarity with depot and trucking operations. Good communication skills are required, and knowledge of French is a clear advantage. You should also be comfortable using Microsoft Office 365.
