Quality Engineer

About the Role

A recruitment organization is hiring a Quality Engineer for its client location in Devanahalli, Bangalore Rural. The role sits within the Quality Management function and reports to the Quality Manager.

Work Details

• This is a five-day work week with a general shift schedule.
• Face-to-face interview is compulsory.
• Company transport is available for employees staying within a 20 km radius; travel charges apply beyond that distance as per company policy.

Qualification and Experience

• A B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
• Applicants should bring 4 to 5 years of relevant experience in quality management.
• Background in Special Purpose Machine (SPM) manufacturing will be an advantage.
• Experience with induction hardening and induction brazing equipment is highly desirable.
• The role involves guiding a team of 2 to 3 quality personnel.

Product and Process Quality

• Perform in-process and final inspections for induction hardening and induction brazing machines.
• Confirm that products meet customer requirements, engineering drawings, and applicable quality standards.
• Spot quality issues and initiate corrective as well as preventive actions.

Supplier Quality

• Check incoming parts supplied by vendors through inspection.
• Track supplier performance using PPM metrics.
• Prepare and share supplier quality performance reports.
• Carry out supplier process and system audits.
• Follow up on supplier corrective actions and confirm that improvements are effective.

Customer Quality

• Address customer complaints using structured problem-solving methods such as 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone analysis.
• Lead root-cause analysis and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
• Close customer complaints within the expected timelines.

Quality Management System

• Support the upkeep and improvement of the Integrated Management System (IMS).
• Work in line with IATF 16949 requirements.
• Plan and execute internal audits.
• Coordinate surveillance audits and recertification audits.
• Maintain quality documentation and contribute to continual improvement efforts.

Calibration

• Manage the calibration system for measuring and monitoring instruments.
• Coordinate calibration activities with NABL-accredited laboratories.
• Ensure calibration validity and traceability requirements are consistently maintained.

Reporting and Continuous Improvement

• Prepare monthly quality MIS reports.
• Present quality performance data during monthly management review meetings.
• Track key quality indicators such as supplier PPM, internal rejection, rework, COPQ, customer complaints, audit status, and calibration status.
• Take part in Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma, and other improvement initiatives.
• Support quality improvement projects across manufacturing operations.

Preferred Industry Exposure

• Special Purpose Machine manufacturing.
• Induction heating equipment.
• Automotive Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers.

Preferred Certifications

• Internal Auditor certification for IATF 16949 and ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
• Six Sigma Yellow Belt is preferred.
