Key Duties
- Provide advice on contractual issues at both project and general level.
- Handle contractual claims together with supporting records and documentation.
- Identify ways to improve revenue, control costs, and investigate any losses.
- Support project cash flow management.
- Assist with project-related correspondence and commercial communication.
- Negotiate and agree subcontractor arrangements.
- Negotiate pricing and terms with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Make sure final accounts are completed promptly.
- Prepare commercial and contractual correspondence in a timely way.
- Create subcontractor and supplier documentation.
- Prepare and review monthly cost reports.
- Review and update risk registers, variation trackers, and extension-of-time trackers each month, and include them in monthly reporting.
- Negotiate final accounts with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Measure and price variations.
- Discuss and negotiate variations with the client, quantity surveyor, and subcontractors.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant will hold a professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management and have practical experience in a Quantity Surveyor position on medium- to large-scale construction projects. Experience working on large sites with high headcount and subcontractors is essential.
You should be comfortable dealing with Commercial Managers, Contracts Managers, internal stakeholders, and client representatives on site, including attending meetings. Strong time management, excellent written and verbal communication, presentation ability, and a solid understanding of construction site operations are all important. The role also requires someone who can work efficiently, use time productively, and keep pace with demanding objectives.
