Role overview
Waimakariri District Council is looking for an accomplished infrastructure engineering leader to take charge of its internal engineering and project delivery consultancy. Based in Rangiora, this permanent full-time role sits within the Infrastructure & Capital Delivery function and plays a key part in delivering major capital programmes that will support the district’s continued growth.
The position reports to the General Manager Utilities & Roading and provides senior-level engineering direction, technical assurance, procurement guidance and delivery oversight across a varied infrastructure portfolio. The successful person will also guide several specialist teams made up of engineers, project managers, planners and other technical professionals.
Waimakariri District combines a strong community feel with an attractive lifestyle, and offers convenient access to Christchurch, North Canterbury beaches, rivers and outdoor recreation.
What you will do
- Direct Council’s internal engineering and infrastructure delivery consultancy.
- Provide strategic engineering leadership across the full infrastructure programme.
- Oversee technical assurance and support sound engineering decision-making.
- Guide procurement activities and contract-related delivery matters.
- Lead multiple multidisciplinary teams working across capital works and project delivery.
- Support delivery of major infrastructure initiatives with visible community impact.
