About Kwetta
Kwetta is a New Zealand-based technology business designing and manufacturing advanced EV charging systems for international markets. The company is focused on solving key electrification challenges by creating ultra-fast charging hardware that can make better use of existing power grids. Products assembled in the Napier workshop are supplied to customers in New Zealand, Australia, and Europe.
The team describes itself as practical, collaborative, quality-focused, and hands-on, with a strong emphasis on supporting each other and building something meaningful.
About the Role
As a Production Technician, you will be directly involved in building EV charging hardware to a high standard. The position covers assembly, wiring, testing, troubleshooting, and contributing ideas for ongoing improvements. It suits someone who is precise, comfortable working at speed, and enjoys solving problems with a team.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Assemble and wire EV charging systems and related hardware.
- Test completed units to ensure they meet quality and performance standards.
- Diagnose issues and help resolve problems during production.
- Support continuous improvement in production processes and output quality.
- Work collaboratively in a fast-moving workshop environment where priorities may change.
What Kwetta Is Looking For
The ideal candidate will have relevant practical experience or a strong technical background. Suitable backgrounds include hands-on mechanical or electrical work, auto electrical experience, electrical assembly or manufacturing experience, recent electrical qualification, or being a third- or fourth-year EWRB-registered apprentice. The company is willing to support the completion of a qualification for the right apprentice candidate.
You should take pride in doing accurate, high-quality work, bring a proactive and positive attitude, and be comfortable with physically active tasks in a busy production setting. An interest in electrical technology, EV infrastructure, or clean energy is also important.
What You’ll Get
- Join a capable and supportive team that enjoys tackling challenging work together.
- Southern Cross health insurance, plus a yearly wellbeing benefit.
- Employee share scheme so you can participate in the value you help create.
- Opportunity to build your skills and grow with a business expanding internationally.
- Work on technology that supports the shift toward electrification.
- Enjoy the Hawke’s Bay lifestyle, including short commutes, beaches, wineries, and sunny weather.
- Relocation support may be available for strong candidates moving from elsewhere in New Zealand, including Auckland, Wellington, or Hamilton.
