About the Company

Mapei, established in Milan in 1937, is a major international chemical manufacturing business supporting the construction sector across the world. The organisation has played a part in significant architectural and infrastructure projects, delivered more than €4 billion in turnover in 2023, operates in 57 countries across five continents, and employs over 13,000 people globally.

The company is preparing to open a new advanced manufacturing facility in Truganina, Victoria in 2026, which is expected to bring further growth and development opportunities.

Mapei is also recognised as one of Forbes and Statista’s “World’s Best Employers” for its performance in corporate responsibility, talent development, gender equality, and social impact.

About the Role

In this Procurement Officer position, you will support the Procurement and Planning Manager with inventory monitoring, procurement activity, and the upkeep of stock information for purchased raw materials and finished goods, excluding bulk-silo items. You will help identify inventory concerns, communicate issues promptly, and maintain accurate supplier and stock data in the D365 ERP system and associated spreadsheets.

Key Duties

  • Support inventory control by reviewing stock levels, sales trends, and forecasts to help purchase appropriately, maintain product rotation, and manage working capital effectively, including checks of minimum and maximum stock thresholds and stock transfers between warehouses.
  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and managing procurement activity for materials and supplies needed to meet changing product demand.
  • Work closely with Mapei subsidiaries, export teams, and external partners to help ensure delivery, cost, and quality expectations are met, including the handling and communication of NCRs.
  • Help process purchasing transactions correctly and on time, ensuring procedures are followed, ERP entries are accurate, and documentation is shared with the finance team when required.
  • Apply company procurement procedures and guidelines consistently in day-to-day work.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and procurement records in D365 and within the organisation’s spreadsheets.
  • Assist the supply chain team with quarterly stocktakes.
  • Keep imported finished-goods and raw-material information up to date in the ERP system and provide related information to sales staff as needed.
  • Flag material supply risks and stock shortages quickly to the Procurement Manager.

About You

You are dependable, structured, and able to perform well in a busy environment. Accuracy matters to you, and you understand the value of detail in keeping operations running smoothly. You are comfortable working collaboratively and can also manage tasks independently when needed.

What You Bring

  • A qualification in business, procurement, supply chain, or inventory management is preferred, with a degree or diploma being ideal.
  • Previous experience in procurement, ideally in large-scale production within chemical manufacturing or FMCG.
  • Strong commercial judgement, with demonstrated ability to improve and implement procurement processes.
  • Excellent relationship-building ability with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Well-developed planning, organisation, and time management skills.
  • Good interpersonal and coaching capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High proficiency with ERP systems and Excel.

Why Join Mapei?

This role offers job security and the chance to grow with a stable business that has been successful for 87 years and is continuing to expand. The upcoming Melbourne facility opening in 2026 also creates additional career progression possibilities.

You will be joining a globally recognised employer that has earned accolades from Forbes, Statista, and Time.

A competitive remuneration package is available for the right candidate, and the role is based at the Truganina facility in Melbourne.

How to Apply

To be considered, submit your resume along with a short cover letter explaining your interest in joining Mapei Australia. The company is looking for candidates who meet the stated requirements and have relevant experience.
