Role Summary

The Powder Stores Operator is responsible for handling quality-released powder stock, preparing it for dispatch, re-palletising, labelling, and assembling loads for loading out. The role also includes stepping in to support forklift operators during busy periods or whenever cover is needed.

Key Duties

  • Carry out tasks in line with standard operating procedures and ensure work is completed correctly the first time.
  • Prepare customer orders according to dispatch requirements and customer-specific specifications.
  • Follow the individual packing, pallet, and labelling requirements set out for each customer.
  • Allocate approved powder to dispatch consignments, re-palletise where required, label goods, and assemble loads for dispatch.
  • Maintain accurate powder store records, including container and trailer checks, knife log entries, and temperature and humidity checks.
  • Complete monthly glass audits and hygiene audit corrective actions in Safefood 360.
  • Keep the powder store, loading bay, and IBC bag area clean, organised, and audit-ready at all times.
  • Ensure forklifts remain clean, tidy, and well maintained, including topping up battery water when needed.
  • Perform daily forklift inspections.
  • Support forklift drivers during peak workloads or when cover is required.
  • Remove pallets from bagging lines and supply packaging to the bagger when forklift operators are unavailable.
  • Use the high-reach forklift when needed to lower pallets from high racking for Sportsfood Operators.
  • Scan incoming raw materials and packaging with barcode scanners and store items in the correct location.
  • Complete the required scanner checks for incoming raw materials.
  • Restart or assist palletiser and stretchhooder equipment in the powder store when stoppages occur.
  • Keep line charts updated as product is removed from or added to each line or rack.
  • Complete required records and paperwork, including DSI and bund checks.
  • Take part in daily L4 board meetings, KPI reviews, shift handover discussions, and PEMAC maintenance meetings.
  • Contribute ideas for continuous improvement in lines and processes.
  • Help investigate and resolve issues, escalating to management where necessary.
  • Log maintenance jobs in PEMAC so issues can be addressed promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, hygienic, and safe working area.
  • Be available for weekend stock counts when required.
  • Support other departments with occasional tasks, including lab requests, maintenance requests, additives to process, operations requests, and cheese relief.
