Job purpose
This role is responsible for delivering physiotherapy care to individual patients or groups, with the aim of improving mobility, reducing disability after illness or injury, and helping people regain the highest possible level of function. The position also includes teaching patients appropriate physiotherapy methods and self-care practices.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out detailed patient assessments and develop treatment plans that are clinically sound and aligned with established care standards.
- Use a range of mechanical and electrical devices, as well as prosthetic and orthotic equipment, as part of treatment delivery.
- Monitor the impact of care provided, set priorities based on physician referrals and patient needs, and work within the available time, staff, equipment, and supply resources.
- Support treatment of acute and chronic pain, along with musculoskeletal conditions, for both inpatients and outpatients.
- Coordinate long-term rehabilitation for patients with spinal cord injuries, brain cancer, stroke, and other neurological disorders, across inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Apply therapeutic methods such as heat and cold therapy, traction, short-wave diathermy, exercise therapy, and other physiotherapy interventions.
- Record all care in line with international documentation standards, HMG policy, and physiotherapy record-keeping requirements, while protecting patient and staff confidentiality.
- Work in a professional and ethical manner that protects patient rights, dignity, and privacy in the clinical environment.
- Follow quality standards such as JCIA or CBAHI and contribute to accreditation efforts when needed by HMG.
- Support departmental quality-improvement activities and participate in the ongoing pursuit of better outcomes and service excellence.
- Escalate any incident or condition that is not in line with HMG operations, service standards, or safety expectations for patients, families, visitors, or staff.
- Apply safety, cost, and clinical effectiveness principles while delivering care, and help maintain a clean, safe treatment area by checking equipment and reporting faults promptly.
- Contribute to supply and stock management so resources are used efficiently.
- Promote best practices within the role and identify ways to improve processes and service delivery.
- Provide education and guidance to patients and their families based on individual needs.
- Take part in person-centered care initiatives led by HMG.
- Help create a patient experience grounded in compassion, dignity, and respect.
- Carry out additional duties that fit within the scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities for the role.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation is required.
- At least 2 years of experience working in a hospital environment is needed.
- Relevant professional certifications are expected.
- Active registration with MOH and the Saudi Council is mandatory.
