Role overview
SAFEbuilt is hiring an experienced Permit Technician for its Tyrone, Georgia office. Key responsibilities
- Serve customers and help meet their building department-related needs.
- Manage permit activity across the full permitting flow, from application intake and plan review through inspections and final permit closure.
- Create and maintain organized filing and tracking systems for letters, reference materials, inspection reports, permit records, blueprints, drawings, and related documentation.
- Coordinate with plan examiners and inspectors across the organization to support consistent workflows and procedures.
- Support public records requests and record conversion tasks.
Knowledge and skills
- Strong interpersonal skills for dealing professionally with staff, the public, contractors, government bodies, and other stakeholders.
- Prior exposure to the full billing cycle is an advantage.
- Well-developed time management, organization, phone handling, detail orientation, and people skills.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks in an environment with frequent interruptions.
- Capacity to use independent judgment, critical thinking, and technical knowledge in day-to-day work.
- Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency and experience using permitting software.
- Minimum typing speed of 50 words per minute.
Experience and education
This position requires at least 2 years of municipal experience and 2 years of administrative support experience. An ICC Permit Technician certification is preferred.
