Role overview
The Movement Coach delivers tailored one-to-one and group wellness experiences that combine movement, fitness, holistic practices, and guest care. The role supports guests in improving their physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing while ensuring every visit feels personal, seamless, and aligned with the spa’s luxury service standards. Acting as a key connection between guests and the Asaya Spa team, this position blends hands-on coaching, guest engagement, operational support, and strict attention to safety and presentation.
Movement, fitness, and wellness delivery
- Create personalized training, mobility, holistic movement, and functional fitness plans based on guest assessments, goals, and health needs.
- Lead both complimentary and paid sessions for individuals and groups across yoga, pilates, aerial yoga, strength conditioning, mobility flow, aquatic fitness, personal training, and other wellness activities.
- Guide sound healing, meditation, sunrise awakening flow, sunset sessions, and related holistic movement experiences.
- Weave mindfulness, breathwork, and somatic awareness into sessions to support recovery, emotional balance, and whole-body wellbeing.
- Explain proper use of fitness equipment and reinforce safe exercise and lifestyle practices.
Guest experience and personalization
- Provide warm, polished, adaptable service while anticipating guest needs and building strong guest relationships.
- Remember guest preferences and help ensure returning guests receive consistent, personalized attention.
- Escort guests to relevant areas such as the Asaya Lounge, fitness space, Social House, changing rooms, treatment rooms, and hammam when needed.
- Answer questions about the spa, wellness offerings, fitness services, and the wider resort with confidence.
- Welcome first-time and returning guests with a calm, refined approach that reflects Rosewood and Asaya standards.
- Understand treatment preferences and timing, recommend suitable therapists, movement coaches, consultants, and visiting or resident practitioners, and suggest complementary services where appropriate.
- Record essential guest information to support reconfirmation and individualized service.
- Orient new guests on attire, spa etiquette, and guidance specific to treatments or wellness sessions.
Collaboration and communication
- Act as the communication link between guests and the spa team by sharing progress, feedback, and concerns with spa management.
- Work closely with spa, nutrition, wellness, retreat, and visiting or resident practitioner teams to deliver integrated wellness journeys and signature programs.
- Coordinate with other hotel departments to support specialist guest services and smooth experiences.
- When needed, help with daily spa operations by working with therapists, attendants, wellness concierges, visiting or resident practitioners, anchor coaches, and management to keep all guest areas ready.
- Maintain adequate supplies of towels, robes, sandals, and amenities, and coordinate replenishment with purchasing and housekeeping.
- Ensure used linen is sent for laundering and clean linen is collected regularly.
- Follow correct manual handling practices, including use of trolleys for moving items.
- Help maintain the cleanliness, order, and premium presentation of the atelier, lounges, Asaya Lounge, treatment rooms, hammam, and waiting spaces.
- Open and close spa facilities as required and complete shift handovers accurately.
- Cover wellness concierge and attendant duties when operations require it.
- Support the recreation and explores team with guest check-ins, questions, and service coordination to help create a smooth arrival and departure experience.
Safety, compliance, emergency response, and standards
- Follow KSA regulations, health and safety rules, fire and life safety procedures, emergency processes, and Rosewood’s Forbes and LQA service standards.
- During alarms or emergencies, notify the department calmly and move guests to the designated assembly point according to hotel procedure.
- Handle incidents calmly and report them quickly to management and security.
- Know and follow all Rosewood and Asaya Spa SOPs, service standards, and operating procedures.
- Use equipment only as intended, and report faults or damage without delay.
- Inspect spa facilities and equipment, and escalate any damage or hazards to the supervisor, spa management, or engineering team.
- Protect guest privacy at all times, especially in changing rooms and wet areas.
Operations, cleanliness, and facility standards
- Check fitness and movement or yoga areas at the beginning, during, and end of each shift to confirm standards are met.
- Keep all assigned spaces exceptionally clean, sanitized, organized, and well presented.
- Replenish and distribute towels, linen, and amenities for fitness, movement, and wellness services.
- Monitor equipment condition and ensure safe usage at all times.
- Carry out opening and closing routines according to shift requirements.
- Support guests in the fitness area with their exercise and fitness needs.
Training, professional conduct, and general duties
- Attend and participate in all required training sessions, briefings, and meetings.
- Keep current knowledge of departmental SOPs, spa features, equipment, therapies, and operating standards.
- Maintain valid personal training and wellness certifications through ongoing professional development.
- Follow grooming, uniform, and personal hygiene standards set by Rosewood AMAALA.
- Remain calm, courteous, and gracious under pressure.
- Carry out reasonable additional tasks or secondary responsibilities assigned by spa management.
- Represent the brand consistently as an ambassador for Rosewood AMAALA values, culture, and service philosophy.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with management and colleagues to support smooth daily operations.
- Share guest feedback, comments, and complaints with spa management promptly.
- Build positive, cooperative working relationships across all departments.
- Report on time and attend all required briefings, meetings, and training.
- Maintain a positive, motivated attitude and good self-control at all times.
- Stay flexible in attitude, approach, and working hours according to business levels.
Health, safety, accountability, and confidentiality
- Take reasonable care of personal safety and the safety of others at work.
- Comply fully with hotel health and safety policies, procedures, and instructions.
- Report hazards, incidents, and work-related injuries immediately.
- Take part in health and safety planning, inductions, training, and briefings as required.
- Never misuse or tamper with safety equipment, machinery, or PPE.
- Remain accountable for compliance with company policy, health and safety procedures, and applicable legislation.
- Be responsible for personal conduct, safe practice, and contributing to a safe, respectful workplace.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding company, guest, and employee information.
- Reports to the Spa Supervisor or Wellness Manager.
Qualifications and experience
This role requires 3–5 years of experience as a Movement Coach or Fitness Trainer in a five-star hotel, luxury resort, or wellness retreat. A high school diploma is required, along with a mandatory Personal Trainer Diploma or License. Professional certifications in fitness, yoga, pilates, or related disciplines such as ACE, NASM, Yoga Alliance, or Stott Pilates are expected. The ideal candidate should be fluent in spoken and written English, with additional languages considered an advantage.
Physical requirements
The role requires standing and moving throughout spa and wellness areas for long periods, along with bending, reaching, and other light physical tasks. Clear and professional communication with guests and colleagues is essential throughout the shift.
