Role Summary
AWC Water Solutions is seeking an experienced Materials Planner to join its team in the City of Langley, British Columbia, Canada. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, this position requires a strong foundation in materials planning, bill of materials management, and inventory strategy in a manufacturing setting. Procurement experience and practical ERP knowledge are essential. The role supports materials planning across the ERP implementation and works with Engineering, Procurement, and Operations to make sure materials are planned, sourced, controlled, and available on schedule throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with Engineering teams to turn project BOMs into material demand plans, trigger timely purchasing actions, and identify long-lead or high-risk items early.
- Assist procurement efforts by reviewing purchase requisitions, helping with purchase order placement, and coordinating with suppliers to align with project schedules.
- Track open purchase orders, follow up on deliveries, and help resolve delays or mismatches with the Procurement team.
- Build and maintain a centralized parts master database with accurate item details, descriptions, units of measure, and vendor associations.
- Create and apply inventory strategies such as stocking rules, reorder points, and safety stock levels that fit the company’s engineer-to-order model.
- Coordinate with Materials Management and Receiving to align pick plans, manage inbound transactions, and keep inventory records accurate.
- Support supplier communication by expediting urgent materials and maintaining clear status updates and requirements.
- Act as a subject matter expert during the scoping and rollout of the ERP system, contributing to data setup, migration, process design, and user acceptance testing.
- Help develop and document materials handling procedures, workflows, and data standards.
Requirements
- Post-secondary training in Supply Chain, Business Commerce, or a related field; SCMP designation is required.
- At least 5 years of experience in materials planning, procurement, or supply chain work within a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with procurement and purchasing, including purchase order management, supplier coordination, and inbound logistics.
- Strong knowledge of BOM structures, MRP principles, and inventory management fundamentals.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and advanced skill with Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Epicor, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or NetSuite is an advantage; familiarity with InEight is also beneficial.
- Experience using Power BI, SharePoint-based reporting, and Power Automate is highly valued.
- Experience in water or wastewater treatment, or another complex engineer-to-order manufacturing environment, is preferred.
- Strong analytical and organizational abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities across several active projects.
