About the role
SouthLink N25 oversees the operation and upkeep of the Suir Bridge and Toll Plaza at Gracedieu, just outside Waterford City. The team manages toll collection and the processes needed to keep the plaza running smoothly, with a strong focus on safety, transport efficiency, and better travel connectivity for Waterford and the surrounding communities.
What you will do
- Carry out hands-on day-to-day road maintenance work as required.
- Respond to emergency call-outs outside normal working hours when needed.
- Complete routine maintenance tasks such as equipment inspections, cash reconciliation, traffic management, winter maintenance, bridge upkeep, pavement repairs, weather-warning preparation, accident damage repairs, cleaning internal areas such as booths, landscaping, grass cutting, weed control, litter collection, and general maintenance.
- Support the duty supervisor and handle incident response duties.
- Work in line with health and safety rules and follow allocated maintenance instructions.
Working conditions
The position may involve night work, irregular hours, rostered 24/7 on-call cover, outdoor work, and work in poor weather conditions.
Requirements
- Completion of second-level education.
- Valid Class C driving licence.
- Current Safe Pass certification.
- Driver CPC qualification.
- Practical background in motorway, road construction, or road maintenance work.
- Hands-on experience in one or more of the listed maintenance activities.
- Sound knowledge of health and safety practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Self-driven, enthusiastic, adaptable, flexible, and open to learning new job-specific skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
