About the Organization
JSLPS (Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society) is a government-supported body working to improve sustainable incomes and reduce poverty in rural Jharkhand. It partners with community institutions, self-help groups, and local stakeholders to advance financial access, enterprise growth, and social empowerment. The organization develops and executes livelihood initiatives that raise household earnings, strengthen local capabilities, and build more resilient rural value chains. Its teams work with government departments, NGOs, and other partners to expand successful interventions across multiple districts.
Role Overview
This is a full-time, on-site livelihood position in Jamtara, Jharkhand. The selected professional will work directly with rural communities, self-help groups, and producer collectives to spot livelihood opportunities, support income-generating activities, and reinforce community institutions.
Key Work Areas
- Plan and execute field-level livelihood activities in line with program objectives.
- Make regular village visits to support implementation and follow-up.
- Conduct community meetings, trainings, and awareness sessions.
- Provide hands-on guidance to beneficiaries and local groups.
- Collect, verify, and document field-level data accurately.
- Prepare periodic progress updates and reports.
- Coordinate with local government offices, NGOs, and other stakeholders to align schemes and services.
- Support market connections and improve access to finance for target groups.
- Ensure activities are carried out according to JSLPS guidelines and program requirements.
Qualifications and Expectations
The role calls for a strong grasp of rural livelihoods, community development, and poverty-reduction approaches. Applicants should have experience working with self-help groups, producer groups, cooperatives, or similar institutions. They must be able to organize field activities, facilitate meetings, and lead trainings effectively.
Strong communication and people skills are important for working with community members, teammates, and external stakeholders. Candidates should also be comfortable with basic data collection, documentation, report writing, and common digital tools such as MS Office. The job requires a willingness to travel widely across Jamtara district and operate in rural and remote areas.
A bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Rural Development, Agriculture, Economics, or a related discipline is required, while a master’s degree is an added advantage. Experience in government livelihood programs, NGO projects, or other development-sector work is preferred. Familiarity with local languages and the socio-cultural environment of Jharkhand will be a strong plus.
