About the role

CPKC, the first rail network linking the United States, Canada, and Mexico, is hiring a Labourer in Golden, British Columbia. This position supports a locomotive shop by keeping the workplace clean, safe, and orderly through routine housekeeping and basic facility upkeep. What you will do

• Remove garbage and recycling, change liners, and dispose of waste from containers, including metal bins.
• Keep shop floors clean by sweeping and removing snow or other debris near doors and entrances so access remains safe.
• Use pressure washing and other cleaning methods on maintenance bays, floors, equipment, and company vehicles.
• Help maintain shop areas so they remain sanitary, well-organized, and aligned with housekeeping and safety standards.

What you need

• A high school diploma or equivalent credential.
• A valid driver’s license.
• At least 1 year of experience working around heavy equipment.
• Availability for all shift patterns, including nights, weekends, holidays, and work in all weather conditions.
• Ability to pass written testing and understand safety directions, rules, regulations, and other written material in English.
• A strong commitment to safe work practices and the ability to follow established procedures and limits.

Pre-employment screening

This is a safety-sensitive role. Final selection depends on a successful medical assessment, including physical, vision, and hearing checks, as well as a negative company drug test. Additional drug testing may also be required after hiring. Background screening includes a criminal history check, education verification, and verification of the driver’s license and driving record.
