IT Project Manager

Role Overview

The IT Project Manager is responsible for delivering projects on schedule by coordinating resources effectively and maintaining strong control over execution. The role also oversees vendor contracts and relationships to help ensure service quality before, throughout, and after project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with internal teams and external vendors to ensure projects are executed smoothly.
• Keep delivery aligned with the approved scope, timeline, and budget.
• Support scope and objective definition with stakeholders while checking technical feasibility.
• Confirm that the necessary resources are available and assigned appropriately.
• Build detailed project plans and monitor progress against them.
• Handle scope, schedule, and cost changes using proper validation methods.
• Use suitable tools and methods to measure project performance.
• Maintain relationships with clients and all relevant stakeholders.
• Apply risk management practices to reduce project exposure.
• Develop and sustain working relationships with third-party vendors.
• Keep complete and organized project records and documentation.
• Meet business users to capture detailed requirements and clarify project needs.
• Assign tasks according to team members’ strengths, expertise, and experience.
• Track project outcomes against short-term and long-term goals.
• Work toward budget targets and revise constraints based on financial review.
• Prepare full project plans for management and other internal teams.
• Apply and strengthen leadership capabilities throughout delivery.
• Create spreadsheets, diagrams, and process maps to document requirements and workflows.
• Research vendors to identify competitive products and pricing in the market.
• Manage procurement and tendering activities for the IT function in line with company procedures.
• Evaluate technical and commercial proposals according to internal standards.
• Negotiate with both new and existing vendors on contracts and terms.
• Set vendor standards and monitor compliance with those requirements.
• Maintain productive vendor relationships and act as a link between external suppliers and internal teams.
• Monitor, measure, report, and review vendor performance.
• Resolve project and vendor issues and escalate when necessary.
• Carry out other duties related to the role as assigned.

Requirements

• Strong experience managing both waterfall and agile delivery approaches.
• Hands-on background in delivering IT projects across networks, business applications, and cloud technologies.
• Prior exposure to cloud technology projects is preferred.
• Experience in procurement and tendering processes.
• Background in contract administration.
• Understanding of IT project management frameworks.
• Familiarity with frameworks such as ITIL and ISO 27001 is required.
• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• At least 7 years of experience.
• PMP certification is required.
